DISCOVERING DAVAO-Day 1: Exploring Downtown Part 1

Great stuff has been said about the land of durian and the great Mayor Duterte, so Mikel and I decided to visit the 4th safest city in the world, Davao city. At the height of 2016 election, I think it is the perfect time for us to explore and discover all the great things Davao has to offer. I want to see and experience everything I've seen and read online. And I tell you, everything is real. It is not just a myth. Davao really is a place where life is. It is what all of us would like the Philippines to be. Seeing Davao made me admire Duterte even more. Now, I wanna show Manila, the Philippines rather our 5days and 4nights trip and share all the awesome things we experienced during our stay.

Day 1 (March 15,2016)
Arrived 7am at Davao International airport. Took a cab to our hotel costs around 150-200.  It was so amazing how it seemed like Mayor Duterte knew we were coming, the city welcomed us with bands and colorful banderitas. Perfect way to start our vacation yey! We had our first two nights booked  at Daylight Inn and the last two nights at D'Morvie Hotel, they're ok if you just want a place to sleep and leave your things while roaming around the city. You can have an airconditioned room for as low as 500php per night and the best thing about them, the location. They're in the center of the city, very convenient. We had breakfast before we headed to our hotel--and as much as we wanted to watch the drum and lyre band competition happening when we arrived, we were so tired and sleepy ~so we opted to take a rest for a couple of hours first before we explored the city in the afternoon. After lunch we explored Davao City downtown. We visited the city hall, San Pedro Cathedral and  Almendra's Gym where Mutya ng Davao is being held. Unfortunately we were not allowed to get in because of my backpack.. so we just had dinner and rested. We needed energy for the next day..it was 79th Davao Day so we were very excited.

That's it for Day 1, aside from our meals we didn't spend anything. You can explore downtown for free, no need take a cab or anything~just walk. The streets are very clean, safe and yes, smoking is not allowed in public areas so you need not to worry. Day 2 coming up so you better watch out.
